Research
During the fall of my sophomore year, I began working as an undergraduate research assistant for the UW Division of Public Behavioral Health and Justice Policy (PBHJP), helping with administrative tasks for a public health parenting initiative in Washington State. As I progressed in the role, I gained experience in monitoring and evaluation, helped write M&E reports to WA state departments, and conducted my first independent research project.
Curiosity has been one of my defining characteristics since my childhood, so naturally I am drawn to asking questions and finding ways to answer them. My experience with PBHJP jump-started my pursuit of academic research as a career. It was a blessing that I was able to gain this experience early in my undergraduate career, because I haven't stopped pursuing research opportunities since. Now, I am working a study aide in the Cancer Epidemiology Research Cooperative at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and recently submitted an original biostatistics methodology manuscript to an academic journal.
