Well... this is my first post and it is Freshman Fall Quarter. I am a new member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority on 17th Ave. This first quarter I am taking Chem 142, Math 124 Honors, Spanish 202, and Honors 100 - along with an internship in the Athletic tutoring center recently. You could say that I have quite a busy quarter. It hasn't been too difficult to navigate Seattle so far since I've lived in the area my whole life. I'm loving the Ave and all the food options there...and the fact that Jimmy John's delivers. My new favorite food is Pad Kee Mao, available at any of the numerous Thai places. Anyways, the food is great and the people are too. The scenery is a little bit different than what I'm used to. I went to Eastside Catholic HS on the Sammamish Plateau and was quite sheltered from the true inner city. Living directly in Seattle is very eye-opening for me. I'm liking this change of pace. As far as academics go, I think that all of my classes are pretty manageable right now. Everyone is trying to scare me about Chem, but I had an amazing chemistry teacher my Junior year of HS, so it hasn't been too challenging once I remember the skills she taught me. However, ALEKS is quite time consuming. It's a personalized online tutor that gives you three questions for every one that you answer incorrectly. Yesterday, I looked at the total amount of hours report (amount of time that I have spent on ALEKS to date). It's week two and I have already spent almost thirteen hours working on chemistry online. In fact, all of my classes have online homework. I kind of like that because it is very easy to keep track of assignments. And it saves paper! It's a win-win. That's all for now. There will be many more reflections to come. |
